Discussion > cutting service

Here's just a thought, I'd like feedback.
Would you be interested in an option where you could buy a kit then have it printed and cut for an additional fee, say$30? The cutting would include all of the small and detail parts and possibly some interesting extras.

I would be interested. But it would depend on the model. At $30 plus I would not purchase a model unless it fit my current needs. At $4 to $7 as a download I would purchase just to take a look.

I would not buy a pre-cut kit any more then I would buy a pre-built plastic model kit. A big part of the enjoyment I get out of model railroading is the modelling part. I get a sense of accomplishment when I finish a paper model kit, which I am sure most of the people who build them feel also. How much it would be worth to me ? Pre-built plastic model kits run from 40-80 dollars on average, this is with the model completely built usually with figures and added detail, house size model http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/HOBuilt-N-ReadyStructures
So I think 30 dollars maybe a bit steep of a price for just pre-cut cardboard models. I would think half of that might be where you should come in on price 15-18 dollars depending on the size and complexity of the model, that would put your pricing somewhere in the middle, your files run around 4-7 dollars, precut would run 15-18 dollars if you decided to make prebuilt models 30 dollars would be reasonable.

The price is just a guess. that why I'm taking a poll. What ever it turns out to be it will be determined by how much time it takes and how much work is involved. We won't be mass producing kits it will be one off custom work.

I would be interested in buying the cutout windows.

I am looking into seeing if a Grandt Line window will work for the Furniture Factory kit.

I'm sure the grant lone windows would work but they will likely look too thick. the card model will look more real if you stay with card. But, by all means experiment.
