Discussion > How do we make this bigger and better

Not so Thom. Many of my friends and myself included model year round. Granted, the summer means more time in the yard and garden and some time at water sports but we continue to model. And belive it or not Tom, we are always looking for something new. John

Certainly lots of modelers do model year round but numbers don't lie. I certainly don't want to be a doom sayer but I've been tracking sales trends for us for 6+ years and it's like clock work. I can't go into specifics but the next three months will make you wonder what were you thinking when you said "hay lets go into the model kit business"
Not cryin in my beer. Just another challenge to overcome.

Thom,

When I owned my hobby store June was my low point of the year. I guess school graduations and summer vacations was the cause. However, July and Aug just about equaled Dec and Jan. Yes. I also kept very good records. Had to, you know tax boys and such.

Hello Thom

I think the idea of a precut kit once in a while is a good idea, especially for the summer when people have less time to play with
their hobbies.

A precut kit would speed thinkg up greatly

Thanks for everything you do

It's a new year and time to assess where we are and where we want to go.
Marketing continues to be difficult because sales don't leave enough revenue to do advertising. after 8 years we are still not a full time business. this is not good since the recession has left me under employed for over 2 years. many times Clever models has saved my bacon.
Sorry for the reality check but some times people act like we're some big fatcat business. So once again I'm opening up the discussion on how do we cross over to making this a supporting entity.
Mr Humes had a great idea that we are implementing. Smaller collections. 4 kits and some extras for $19.95 we will mix newer and older liks that have been updated such as new colors and additions. we think this may do well. Even though the $39 price is a great deal, I'm sure first time customers who know next to nothing about card stock might hesitate at $40 bucks.
let me know what you think. and we'll keep the lights on.
