Discussion > American Steel Pipe Building Mods

Here is my attempt at the American Steel Pipe (O Gauge) kit. I printed everything on paper and laminated it to Foam Core and some parts to very heavy black card board - kind of like the stuff used in picture framing. I made the window inserts out of 29lb Vellum on an inkjet, Laser toner cannot be used as it fuses to the Vellum and that would affect the translucent properties I am trying to achieve with the Vellum. I hope to have the LED lighting installed soon.

Ted,

A great build. But I see you can't take all of the credit. Looks like you have a few helpers.

Hi John,

:) Yes I have helpers ..... They will work on the scenery with me from time to time, but I am not sure if the younger kids these days will take up hobbies like my generation knew them. They have lots of competing activities.

Ted - Looks great! What type of adhesive did you use to laminate the cardstock to the foamcore?

I have younger kids at home. We wired the city up with several toggle switches last year and they like to turn the lights on an off so while I was putting together this flat, I wanted lighting and came up with this idea.

The cardboard is glued to the foam core with Elmer's white glue brushed on.
