Hallo Mel,
one is the first of all Shay locos in Michigan, a well known picture. Most of the others are from the Sacramento Mountains in New Mexico. Some from the north Pacific Coast. The Pics are from open sources e.g. the US Forest Service.
I have some infos about the New Mexico logging operations in my blog, but only in german.

Peter - saw you had a link on your site for Greenfield Village paper models, but the link
doesn't seem to work anymore. Do you have an alternate link?
