Is the Clyde Puffer available as a separate kit? John

Hi John. Sorry, but the Clyde Puffer is currently, only available on the Waterfront DVD. Our policy is that we usually don't make any of the kits, on a newly released DVD available separately for at least 6 months, and more usually a year.

No offense but what is the reason for this policy? Because I am not going to spend $40 on a DVD if I only want one or two of the kits. And I don't really understand why I would have to wait 6 or 12 months to finally get it. Why not make all the kits available as downloadable kits? Technically this should not be an issue unless you have limited space on your website but still.... a somewhat disappointed customer

Well Richard, I kind of agree with you, up to a point. We would like to see all of our kits immediately downloadable, but, you would be amazed at the number of our customers that don't or won't download. So DVD products are one of the things that they want. Also, if we didn't do DVD's, we would have very little to sell at shows. Selling DVD's at shows is how we justify going to the shows we do.
We are, for the first time, going to try to sell downloads at the National Narrow Gauge Convention this year. If that is accepted, DVD's MAY be one step closer to extinction. We will already provide files on flash drives or SD cards if requested. Since we are in the DVD business, we have to give them enough time to sell to amortize the costs. That's why we wait about 6 months. How is it fair for me to sell a DVD to someone who DOES pay $40.00 to get maybe only one kit that he wants and then a month later make that kit available by itself. I'm sorry that you are disappointed, but for right now, that is our way.

I want to add my 2 cents as well.
Our long and medium term plans are to make everything downloads. My bro does all the web work and he does really well for a guy who two years ago had no idea what he was doing. Putting up a kit in a downloadable form is a lot of work. besides doing most of the test building he takes the files and reformats them as multy page PDF's. Upload them, code the buttons, add pix, test the download etc. then he goes and works insane hours in a steel mill
We have all kinds of cool hi tech plans, Really cool but it's just the two of us
In the mean time if there is a specific kit you need, tell us. We will get it to you via email.
TM
PS $40 for 9 or 10 kits is a steal

IF I want to evaluate whether I could justify buying your waterfront DVD for a single useable item - none of the buildings would fit in with British vernacular architecture - I would like to see your actual PRODUCT! NOT a picture of the plastic model on which your product is based!
