Discussion > looking for a Clever Model

I saw a facebook page featuring a build using the O scale Union Hotel but can't find it on the web site. Was this a special?

Steven,
I know I sent you a private message, but I thought it was about time for an update on this project's status as a lot of people have been waiting a long (2 years) time for this model.
As of today, the Union Hotel should be available to order in 2 weeks. It will be available in two versions. The red brick version that we showed you pix of already, that Jim Gore built and a Green Clapboard version that no one has seen yet. We will also be releasing the Columbia Hotel that Bob Bruce scratch built and then provided to us so we could turn it into a kit. Pix on page 6 of the Blog (or thereabouts). These are fairly elaborate kits and so will carry a bit higher price tag than usual. (But not that high. Still the best deal on the block.) These are not beginner kits. They will provide many hours of building fun. We may also be trying something new in the presentation. We will probably release it as an O Scale kit and include scale factors to use when printing to get ALL of the smaller scales. You want Z. We will tell you the reduction to print at to get Z.
E.G. If you want O, you print at 100%, S, you print at 75%, HO is printed at 55%, etc. Sorry it's been so long in coming, but I think they are worth the wait.

Well Rob, we will be at the National Narrow Gauge Convention the 3rd. to the 6th. of September and two of the three hotels will be on display. The green clapboard one will only be built in virtual world. Since it is piece for piece identical to the brick version, we don't need to build it to know that it goes together. They won't be for sale at the show, but as soon as we get home, they will go up on the website. At least the O scale version will. The HO may follow in about a week, although, you can buy the O and print it scaled down. In the future, all new kit releases will be the same price for all scales and will be produced full size for O scale with reduction factors provided to get any typical scale. After all, it is not the material that you are paying for, it is the intellectual property, which is constant for any scale. Doing things this way will allow us to bring new kits to market much faster. 2 years plus, is a long time to wait for anything.

Dave,

Thanks for the update. But I am confused. It was my understanding that there were two different style hotels to be released. The first one was to be in two different textures, one being brick with another identical one in wood. Then there is second one which was to be in clapboard only and is a two story structure. I for one am very interested in both styles. I currently have two towns on my layout awaiting hotels.:))

Yesterday I attended a clinic in Lakeland, Fl conducted by Jim Gore. He ran a great clinic and I sure learned a lot. Also he has a built up version of the long awaited hotel on display. All I can say is WoW!! Great model.!

Sorry for the confusion. Both hotels being released are currently on page 8 of the blog. The Columbia is the two story white clap and the Union is the red brick ( also to be released in green clap).
