Discussion > Clever Footprints in the style of Sanborn maps
I had no particular reason for doing this, except I think it might be fun to plan a layout someday with a map in the style of an old Sanborn fire insurance map.
This is a work in progress, which is why only a couple buildings are complete.
I've done much the same, although not just with Clever Models. I use a track planning program from AnyRail and it allows me to draw footprints of any building I make and save it to an on-line user data base. This data base can be accessed by anyone who has a license to the software and contains structures in all scales that have been contributed by users. I have added items in HO and N scale as they do not convert from one scale to the other. Having this extensive data base really helps out when trying new plans as it forces you to not cheat on what will fit!
