Discussion > Scratchbuilt N scale bait, tackle and boat repair shop
So I've started a new N scale layout based on a variation of an Iain Rice plan, and I've been building structures to go on it.
I really wanted to try out mixed media, as well as much cardstock kits alongside plastic and wood craftsman kits to see if people could tell the difference.
For the mixed media aspect, I took some matt board, some stripwood, some Clever Models textures and some Tichy Trains windows and doors, printed some scale plans out from an old copy of Model Railroader, and went to work.
This is the result. It needs some detail parts and some signs, and possibly an interior making, but besides that it's done.

The core is from the matt board, with Clever textures for the walls and the double doors. The stairs are plastruct, the balcony and the roof trim is strip wood, and the single doors and windows the Tichy castings.
For signs and posters I'm going to raid my stock of Clever spares. :)
