WEBSITE CHANGES FROM DAVE

Finally, I have completed a project that I have been working on FOREVER.

You will notice that the old “BUY DISCS” button is gone.  Also the “Get DVD’s” button has changed to “Get DVD’s/Collections”.

With these changes we are introducing a new product, Clever Models LLC “COLLECTIONS”.  Yes this is the product that we asked you to help name via a contest.  I will be announcing the winners shortly, but first about this product.  A Collection is simply the contents of a DVD that is now available as a single download.  Even though the files are large, I’ve managed to keep the download times to less that 4 minutes for most systems.  Some older computer systems will take longer.

There are a few minor differences from the old DVD contents.  More and better pictures and about 60 pages of How To’s and Instructions along with enhanced recommendations for tools equipment and methods.  These are still not step-by-step instructions, but I think you will find them most helpful.

When you click the Get DVD/Collection button, you will go to the same product selection page as befor, but when you pick a product to explore you will go to a page that contains four purchase buttons rather than the previous two.  You can choose either HO or O DVD’s, just as before, but you can also purchase an HO or O DOWNLOAD of the DVD contents.  No increase in prices, but you save shipping and our overseas friends don’t have to deal with tarriffs or dutys.

I look forward to you comments, pro and con, reguarding this addition, so feel free to express yourselves.

Now back to the contest.  I am in the process of going back through all the entries and I can tell you that I allready know that we have at least two winners.  In about a week I will make the official notifications and awards of prizes.

Thanks for your continued support.

Thank you Dave.

I´m coming from Germany, now it´s very simple to get those DVD´s without shipping and tax. 1-2 are very interested for me but first i have to build the purchased comercial buildings from your sommer sale last year. The upscale to "G" is done, next month i can start at last.

My only critique is about the web design. When I looked at a couple pages, I saw the buttons for the collections in both scales, but only the description and product number of the HO scale. This is because I have my font size set fairly large, which pushes the O scale description off the edge of the column.

Guys who are modeling in O are more likely, I think, to have their screen fonts set larger.

Might be a good idea to wrap the text or something.

Aside from that, I'm glad you're making the collections available as downloads.

Oh, also the price is pushed off the left side of the column. That could really stop some sales.

Dan,

Hold the control down and strike the minus key until you can see the entire page. When you have completed viewing the page then hold the control key down and strike the plus key until you are at the size you desire.

Yes, I know. My point being, someone else might NOT know, and miss the prices.

Unfortunately Dan, I cannot accommodate all screen resolutions and formats. Wrapping the text is not necessarily the solution as it doesn't affect any graphics. It really makes things look weird. The format is probably going to have to remain as it is until I find someone who is good enough at coding so that everything is universal.

The only advice in downloading I would give is to change the "how-to" files into a "read me" with a link to your web page for the option to download those .pdf files in order to make the download size smaller. Up to you, but that way all that info that is already on your site isn't duplicated for every collection.
