Wood's mill update

Wood’s mill will be complete in the next couple of days. I want it ready for Trainfest in Milwaukee.

One hold up has been the waterwheel itself. The horizontal slats that catch the water on the prototype are angled to catch the water like a bucket. Some waterwheels have flat boards that are just straight up and down. I couldn’t decide whether to be accurate to the prototype or make the model easier to build. After looking at a lot of prototypes I’ve decided that the easier way is just as prototypical as the hard way, so that’s the way I’m going. With this decision made there’s nothing holding me back from commiting to the final state of the kit.

Clever Models Mobile

As you may remember, I have moved into a 30ft RV with the idea of traveling between shows more often. We have hit a snag. A small windshield crack has kept me off the road because I can’t get registration before I fix the windshield. That piece of glass is over $700.00 bucks and with our sales currently being so down, It’s not going to get fixed anytime soon.
I wonder if I can crowd fund the windshield?

Thom,

Glad to hear the the mill will soon be available. That will surely bring in some revenue. In the meantime I will go to your donation link and send a small donation. Perhaps others will do the same.

The Donate link is where it has always been. The lower, left corner of any Website page.

Looking forward to your next release.
If you have not, you might want to check to see if your glass can be repaired.
https://www.safelite.com/windshield-repair/

insurance might even cover the repair.
"You know you’re eligible for a repair when:
The damage can fit under a dollar bill
You have three chips or less
The damage is not on the edge of the windshield
The damage is not in your line of sight"

I don't want to give you guys & gals the wrong impression. We're not trying to guilt you all into sales. Just stating the fact that this has been a very poor year so far, to the point that we have had to cut some shows that we really wanted to attend. In general, the economy still stinks and everyone is being very careful with their discretionary spending. You have to buy food, not hobby materials. Us too. As with all the past model railroad manufacturers, if you want to provide your products to the industry, you usually end up spending much more than you take in. We provide very low cost items with very little margin. When sales are down, we feel it sooner than most. That's the nature of THIS business. Don't worry, be happy!

Dave and Thom, the main reason my brother and I are attending the two day Mt. Clemens train show is to promote Clever Models. We are doing this because we so strongly believe in your product and the guys who offer it. Both are superior in every way. Doug and I hope we can send a lot of new business your way. Take care.
