Looks like it's kitbashing week. Check this out

Paul Egri and Dave Rarig combined talents to bash this version of our Small Company House, Kit # S14.  This is what paper modeling is all about.  Think about how difficult it would be to take a single story house kit in resin, hydrocal, plastic, wood or any other medium and add a full porch, a second story and a stone chimney.  I don’t know how long it took to make these modifications, but I can gaurantee it wasn’t as difficult as it would be in any other material.  Great job guys!

Paul did the design work (with my suggestions) and I did the construction. This model is in N-scale and surprisingly was NOT layered for definition! The combination of the brown trim and yellow siding really "pops" and looks good even up close. The siding is the O scale pastel yellow clapboard, reduced to N scale. The brick foundation came from the Company House kit, the roofing is the dark gray diamond shingle texture, and the "stone" chimney was reduced from a wargame Medieval design by Dave Graffam. One thing I should have done, but didn't, was to cut out the space between the stiles on the porch banister. I did that on another build and it was a bit tedious! As I recall the windows came from the Rural Station kit with brown trim rather than green, but I'm not sure - as Paul "cuts and pastes" bits from various sources. Missing from these photos (build was not complete) are the steps to the porches which came from the Co. House kit.

Dave outlined the parts used in this design very nicely I hope this helps Charlie with his question on how to design your own buildings using Clever Textures and parts It also shows how picking good contrasting colors at least in the smaller scales can preclude the need for layering If charlie or anyone else would like help with designing there own buildings using Clever parts look me up in face book and send me a messade and I will be glad to help
