After some kitbashing, I'm going to assemble 2 or 3 of your kits just for fun (and to have on hand for a layout I'm planning). I like the challenge of the kits. I also like the appearance. The relief is more realistic than on most plastic kits and parts. The finish is also more realistic than that of plastic. Since I model in N scale as well as H0, I like being able to include all or just part of the detail, depending on where the model will be used and how much time I have.

I started purchasing Clever kits about 3 years ago. I have a shelf layout that is almost all Clever models. Some are right from the kit, some are altered & one is scratch built. I like to do lighted interiors which adds an additional dimension. They are fun & realistic. I model in HO but gave an "0" scale model to a friend & he was amazed at the detail. If you are a modeler & you can cut & fold paper you will be pleased.

I started building Clevermodels kits a couple of years ago, mainly due to moving from UK based models to US based models, and wondering if there was a US equivalent of several UK cardstock companies.

I have to say, Clevermodels kits are hands down the most photo-realistic and detailed cardstock models on the market today, bar none.

I couldn't be happier with the models I have - and I have most of them, having purchased the Brick, Wood, and Steel industrial buildings collections, as well as the 1st Street and Waterfront collections, and both Texture collections.

The only constructive criticism I can give here, is that the photographs of the models on the website aren't the best, and I was initially put off of a few of the kits due to the quality of the photographs on the website.

Since getting said models as part of the collections I purchased, I have to say that the photographs on the site don't do the models themselves the justice they deserve.

If anyone who might read this is on the fence about purchasing a particular kit due to the photographs, I'd recommend going for it, and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised by just how excellent the quality of the models really is. :)

Thanks,
Dan

Dan, Your observation about the photography is a fare one. for lots of reasons it's inconsistent. we just dont have the resources we need to get the job done. It's one of the reasons we like to show the work of the modelers who use our kits.
Thank you for your solid review. we will try to be better. I assure everyone that the quality of our kits will always be the best. we never skimp on that part of the work.

Hi Thom,

Thanks for the fast response. If my own model building skills were up to the task, I'd be happy to photograph whatever kits I've currently built as my camera is surprisingly good for a smartphone cam.

Perhaps you could add a link on the page for each model that takes you to a gallery of customer builds of that specific kit - that way people can get a broader idea of what they are getting for their money - anything that helps you guys sell more kits, right?

I'm hoping next up to get Central Camera built - including the extra pages without the signage to allow for extra floors to the building, that Dave was so kind to whip up for me.

Once it's built, I'll try and get some high quality photos taken for you to add to the gallery, if that would be something you'd be interested in?

Thanks,
Dan

I have acquired a pretty full set of your discs and collections over the past 3 to 4 years; Both textures sets, brick, steel, wood, neighbourhood, waterfront, critters and Gorre and Daphetid along with some of the Jackson sets. I'm not a prolific builder but have found that Clever Models has helped me to become more of a builder and less of a collector. Most of my time is spent on rebuilding kits for the club I'm a member of. I use the textures to overlay old kits, to change ( and cover up past mistakes) in order to reuse for a current modular railroad. I find it is tremendous value for the money, being able to build the kit of use parts for another project. Textures are amazing. People have to touch the "metal roofs" in order to believe it is actually paper (card) Thanks so much for getting me off the couch.

If I didn't think your designs were the best, I wouldn't keep purchasing them! I just counted my DVD's at 15, plus I have downloaded many additional kits that are not on the discs. Since I began building your models about 5 years ago I would estimate I have invested well over $500 in acquiring an extensive library in N, HO, and O scales. My only regret is I have not found the time to build all of them!
