A really neat build from Rich Slocum

Rich started off with the Red Insulbrick version of our Small Chicago House.  Then he stripped off the stone foundation and made it into a street level storefront and as you can see, it’s an antique shop.  Removing the foundation changes the entire character of the building.  I like it so much, you can bet I am going to copy the idea.  He also added a large glass bay window just packed with merchandise.  He scratch-built a full interior and made the roof removable so it can be appreciated.  You can’t really tell, but there is a clear false roof to protect the inside from the elements.  The shingle work is also really well done.  Good job Rich and thanks for sharing.

That's the way I like building the Small Chicago House, without the stone foundation. Makes it look more like a small suburban 1940's cottage with nice proportion without it looking tall. I also like to add a rear addition with a hipped roof.

Beautifully done. I love how this building keeps getting reinvented. It was my intention that this kit could be an entire neighborhood qand you all have taken it way beyond that. still a vital kit after over 16 years.
Great idea to remove the foundation - really a very different look!
