A new collection nears completion

It appears we will have a new collection ready soon.  I’m not quite sure what to call it.  It’s a mix of shops and store fronts, mostly wood.  The plan is to make them available on DVD and as downloads at the same time.  Right now the list includes.

A corner store with a two sided stepped porch, awnings and full interior.  A book shop with full interior and a heavy stone foundation.  It would look great in a port town.  Beattie’s grocery.  Its stucco.  The prototype is in California, but it could be from anywhere.  The Western store that’s been available for a while, but with several new features and both a right and left side entrance.  A  reworking of The Mercantile in brick.  You can never have too many triangular buildings.  And of course, the usual load of extras and surprises.

I may add a light house based on the recent build on MRR Forums.

Also in the works, a Section House that matches our CN watertower.  A new Small Brick Factory.  A dark brick version of Cream City (I have been trying to get this kit to work in O scale but it’s just gianormous.)  Anybody who really wants it in O scale, speak up.

Thats it for now, I think.  Oh wait, there is that Gas Station I’ve been playing with.

The future. Some changes coming soon.

November will mark our 8th year.  We haven’t made too many changes to the site in a while.  That’s about to change.  Partly because the site has gotten rather large. we realize that searching for kits can be difficult.  We are about to add many new kits that have not been available but on disk and as one off, custom jobs.  Additionally, I have over a half dozen never seen kits that are near completion.  Farther down the road are a couple of big new disks.  We remain dedicated to creating great models. so watch for the changes and let us know what you think.

Reality strikes a blow.  Due to increased web storage, paypal handling fees and taxes some prices will have to increase.  We haven’t raised prices in seven years.  As a matter of fact, we reduced prices when we switched from pre printed products to digital format.  In a couple of weeks, individual texture files will increase to $1.99 per download, still a great price.  Individual disks will stay at $29.95 and $39.95.  A few kit downloads will increase due to revised designs or additional options added.

As always we appreciate and thank you all for your support.  We are dedicated to making this a fun and informative site for card stock modelers and we are going to keep having fun doing it.

getting ready for the Indy O scale show

I’m looking forward to getting back into show season. The Indy show was one of our first shows and we have been back every year. We wont be taking the layout this year it need a serious refurb but we will have a new “First street” display.

We have been doing this a long time now. we will go into our 8th year this Nov. We have learned a lot about cardstock engineering and i hope the newer kits reflect that. As we go forward I want to introduse new techniques to make our kits even more dimensional. new ways to brace models. New ways to splice and wrap. etc. etc. Brother dave has started working with thinner papers. wrapping them around cardboard and he’s getting great results. I want to go back and update a few textures and of course lots of new kits. I have a killer lighthouse, some north eastern style shop buildings a couple of new factories. The list keeps growing. (I havent forgotten about Chama)

More soon
