Something fun from down under

Narrow gauge is big in OZ. Our friend Lynn Zelmer ran a kitbash card stock contest  using the design for an Aussie cottage he came up with and some of our textures. (our Bunk house is based on his drawrings). Gavin Hinse of NGDW sent us this pic and I want to share it here to show just how versatile you can be.

We only sent out about 10 bunk house kits it’s now retired but I hope people will be inspired. beautiful card stock, yes. Thanks mates.

May I suggest that Clever Models host a contest on "build the best ( pick out a clever model structure ) and the winner gets a free download from the web site. That way we get to see more of the work from our "craftsman" builders. Of course all buildings would have to be in the same scale, no Z scales competing with G scales. Just an idea for the down season of building.

Steven, We did something like that a wile ago with our shed kit, though that was a free download. People came up with an amazing variety of kit bashes. I don't have any new freebies ready at the moment but if you can get people interested in doing it with one of our other kits, we'll come up with a nice prize. perhaps we can do a best build submitted during the month. Any kit, any scale. as an ongoing event.

Thom, I'm up for it. . . Though any kit is a bit woolly. A kit bash subject say a bar/club which would allow a variety of kits to be used and detailed. Or another generic use of a whole range of building choices - How about August/September - a good excuse with SWMBO to take a kit on holiday. .. Bryan

Bryan, many of the regulars here, the folks likely to get involved already have several unbuilt kits. I could be crass about it and say that you have to buy a specific kit but I'd rather not do that.
Discuss among your selves. I'll go with the group mind on this. I guarantee a nice one of a kind prize.
I'll suggest categories though.

Kit bash
board on board
best craftsman" diorama" or "on layout scene"
I'd prefer to get started earlier likje July- august.

This is really a great shape for a small cottage. The possibilities are almost endless, with different kinds of siding and roof coverings just the beginning. I wonder how many people besides myself past it up because they were not modeling a western theme.

Perhaps it could be done as a plan to use with various texture sheets. And perhaps a set of windows and doors.

Last time I looked I had 3 of your CD collections which are suitable for UK based modelling.

Obviously we are divided by more than 3,000 miles and a common language.

Here In the UK I would at least not be flamed the first time I opened my laptop.

Cheers

OK, so the contest will be a "kit bash" Any kits in any scale, Go crazy. the only restriction is the deadline. I'm being aggressive here. August 1st. pictures and a written description of what you did to create your master piece.
The prize will be a unique kit (to be determined) that will be named after the winner. So if "Joe Bob" wins there will be an exclusive new kit called "Joe Bob's etc"
