A NEW contest for the month of July. Deadline Aug 1st

Actually for the remainder of this month and July.

We are asking any interested modelers to create a Kit Bash using Clever models parts. The models will be judged using craftsmanship and creativity as the guide line. A really creative model will win out over a perfect craftsman build but if there are 2 really creative models the better crafted build will be the deciding factor.

The prize will be a custom kit designed for and bearing the winners name.

Photographs and a writen discription of the process must be turned in by no later then AUGUST 1st.

Entrants may be sent in before that time but will not be posted untill after the close date.

Have fun and blow the doord off.

OK I'll be the first to say "I'm in"...........I know that I'm not much of a builder but heck it will be fun anyway!

I'm in, too. I already have a model in mind. Does this include an absolute scratchbuild using various pieces from several kits? That is, using various textures AND parts from other kits?

Allowing for the wide range of skills represented, I'm taking a wide view on materials used. A scratch build is Ok since creativity will be equal with craft on this. It would be nice to be able to see recognizable parts but as always our goal is to show off how great paper(opps I mean) Card stock is.

Well, guess I will have to come up with something. For me it will be simple as simple can be.;))

I will try and come up with something from this side of the pond.

But like Marc, but a day earlier, I am off to foreign climes on 21 July - Scotland - for my sons wedding on the 30 July. We have his stag weekend 22/23/24 July, my wedding anniversary 26 July, my future daughter in law's birthday 28 July.

Not forgetting the wedding itself

I think I will have to send it off before I leave !!!

Hi Thom,

is it allowed to use some stripwood and/or small detail parts on the contest models??

I´d like to participate with an industrial theme.

Peter, Build it any way you want. detail parts are very welcome. strip wood in moderation is also fine. especially for bracing. i just want to see our product used creatively.

Blow the doors off...so you want a dynamite shed? Or maybe a firehose factory? I've got an idea but it's more scratch than bash. Still, all the materials will be Clever Models product.

Hopefully I'll get something done in time.

Galen, Scratch is not a problem. just an extreme kit bash.

Just about done with my structure. It's mostly scratch ... lots of textures, windows and doors from about four different kits, building trim from a fourth and fifth. At any rate, I am building my version of the "infamous" Diamond Bar in Como, Colorado. Will send pictures to Thom within about a week.

Entries are starting to come in and all I can say is WOW. Keep on building. I may have to name a lot of new kits if the quality stays as high as I'm seeing right now.

I'm not going to spill the beans just yet but I'm starting with the cannery, the G&D water tank, and an additional sheet of wood planking...but I've gotta get crackin' if I want to make the deadline!

Only about 10 days left folks. get your entries in. can't wait to share pix.

OK, Now to start the judging. Which seems ridiculous since every entry is stellar in it's own way. We didn't get a lot of entries but each one is very unique. I will try to feature each build in no particular order over this and next week to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy and comment.
After that i will try to make a decision and post a winner.
Thanks to all who entered and those that just didn't make the deadline, I hope you will share your builds as they are completed.

As one who didn't make the deadline, I really look forward to seeing what everybody submitted. I will be sure to share what I was working on when it's completed.

galen, we will like seeing it when ready.
he judging is going slowely because of my current work load. It has slowed all things Clever models but at least it's getting me through this period of slow business.
Before I announce any winner i am going to devote a bit of space to each entry. they are all worthy of notice and choosing one over another may be impossible.
August 9, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave
Friends, I am going to start posting pix of the various entries tomorrow evening. I want to post each one and open comments. Every model submitted has great creativity. I know you will all enjoy them and be inspired.
I do have a favor to ask. the files sent more often then not have file names that do not identify the builder. This has cause a small problem in that I believe i am missing an entry. Specifically it was a low relief flat that I thought impressive but could not find when reviewing the entries.
If you do not see your model over the next few days, please re send and identify it with your name in the file name.
I will post every entry received.
